Project of Antanas Šatynskis Villa was prepared in 1924 and shows city districts’ characteristics, which at those days in Kaunas were not distinguished by the wealth of residents – next to small, ascetic buildings of the working class one could have found villas of more luxurious architecture. The villa is of compact volume, with asymmetric façade. The main accent – a tower, which continues the plane of the first floor’s façade. An interesting aspect from the second floor – two spacious porches, as well as additional protruding balconies from them. The rooms are planned around the central corridor. Even though due to the architecture and living space the building is associated with luxurious resident houses, the lifestyle of those days is depicted by the fact that bathroom is not in the plan of the building.
Based on later documents, there are two possible scenarios for the future of this project – instead of the planned villa, there would be another, homestead resident house or the project was completed only partly, by limiting it only to one floor. Already after a couple of years the plot became a part of one of the forming new districts for the poor class of Kaunas society – so called “Argentina” territory. In the buildings’ demolition plan of 1939, a dense network of buildings can be seen in this neighborhood, which consists of many inhabited small volume warehouses.
