The construction of the house was initiated by the mayor of the city Jonas Vileišis on his own piece of land. Part of the house had residential premises which were inhabited by the owner of the house, others were rented. This object has a unique significance for diplomatic history of the nation, as it accommodated the United States embassy in 1934-1938. The front face of the building is divided horizontally with equally spaced out rows of windows. The symmetry ends with the rounded corner which connects the main part of the facade with the side. Both parts of the facade are connected by balconies which maintain the curved shape of the facade’s corner.
